The Indian Smart City convention is on the 27th of September, 2023 and mayors of various cities around India are doing everything to get their cities awarded in various categories of smart initiatives taken under their administration. With over 100 smart city dignitaries taking part in this event, the focus will be on the Indian President handing over awards to various Indian cities in various categories. Notably Indore (MP) has won the National Smart Cities Awards 2022 for the best city followed by Surat and Agra. Indian Smart City Award Contest (ISAC) is organized by the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, India and it is the fourth edition of this contest which was previously concluded in 2018, 2019, and 2020. The contesting 100 Smart Cities take up various projects across diverse sectors related to energy, water, mobility, solid waste management, sanitation, social infrastructure, vibrant public spaces, smart governance, etc. and the national smart city award is awarded to the best city.
The Indian smart city mission was launched in 2015 by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a single goal in mind: transforming Indian Cities by leveraging technology in city planning and administration. The mission aimed at using Internet of Things and other modern technologies as well as public awareness and participation to transform cities.
